Prepare, Stress, Assess, Relief… A Hurricane Sandy Update
Hello All!
We are happy to say that we have survived the storm! As some of you may know we are just blocks from where the ConEd plant transformers were popping like fireworks on Monday night as all power blew before they could shut it down. ConEdison trucks were floating down Avenue C in the tidal wave of water that jumped the barracades from the East River. Our neighborhood was hit hard, but everyone is doing their best to keep on keeping on!
I am EVER SO GRATEFUL to my sister, here visiting from California, who helped get all of Ed. Varie’s inventory out of harm’s way. We did not lose anything irreplaceble, I feel so BLESSED.
Flood waters caused damage in our basement that has resulted in electrical damage, heating issues and some long term moisture problems, we have not heard if there is any foundation problems. We will keep you posted on when we will be open for business, I hope SOON!
We are sending positive vibes and thoughts to those that were not as fortunate.
Thank you for your concern and support, and offers to help!
We appreciate your patience and generosity!
XOXO

MARK DELONG Opens Thursday October 25 6-9pm

The title of this upcoming exhibit No Rake Gut, refers to a sequence of everyday events that as time passes the interpretation of these events moves farther and farther from the actual reality, turning into something completely different from which it originated. As a metaphor for artistic process and art making from a primitive perspective, Mark Delong brings together a new body of paintings with a fresh color palette, broad marks, and active abstraction. The ceramic works Delong is widely acknowledged for are born in new shapes with strong graphic sensibilities. Delong will also debut a short documentary video.

It’s Saturday! NY Art Book Fair Bonanza!
2 days down, 2 to go!
We have a big day today…
Here’s the rundown:
Ed. Varie BOOTH 1-3 pm Anne Lai will be doing a performance of in person poetry writing, individually packaged and personalized.
Transposition of Ten Ten Two:
A live transposition of the poem Ten Ten Two from the publication what tends apart will be repeated over the course of two hours in silver drawing ink. Each copy of the poem differs from one another, inevitably from the incidental fall and stroke of the brush, and by chance alterations in wording and their placement on the page. The transposition then becomes an act of re-publishing by hand, to take apart the initial arrangement and create brief durations to renew the poem by way of inheritance and response.

BOOK SIGNINGS IN THE LOBBY!
