Caedron Burchfield, Chase Chivers
Ed. Varie is pleased to present Work and Painting, an exhibition of painting, drawing, and sculpture with artists Caedron Burchfield and Chase Chivers.
Burchfield and Chivers met through skateboarding and school in Reno, Nevada. Both transplanted to New York, now share an art studio built into the backyard landscape of an apartment building in Bushwick. Working as sign painters and framers, the lines are blurred between artist and artisan, the distinction between what is work, and what is habit; what is painting for work, and what is painting for one’s own artistic practice, becomes convoluted.
For the exhibition Work and Painting, Burchfield and Chivers have composed artwork collaboratively, deconstructing the concept of ownership. By building layers on top of the other’s composition, enhancing, augmenting, and eliminating, they surpass the limits of one’s own views, forging a whole new reality and artistic platform. The found objects presented in their work come from a meticulous collection of various items exposing daily habits, creating an abstract record; not only of their own lives but also in the lives of others, past friends, and acquaintances.
Caedron Burchfield was born in Portland, Oregon in 1981, and raised in the Nevada desert in and around Carson City. He earned a B.A. in Fine Art at the University of Nevada, Reno and now resides in New York City. Chase Chivers, born in Boise, Idaho, in 1983, was also raised in the high desert. Chivers is a self taught painter and photographer and is currently based in New York.
Work and Painting will be on view through January 6, 2013. Please check the website for hours, or contact the gallery to make an appointment, hello@edvarie.com.

New Museum Public Hours:
sandy zine-
All the photos in this zine were taken in lower Manhattan from Oct, 29 2012 to Nov, 2 2012—the days following Hurricane Sandy where a significant chunk of America’s largest city was without power. A $10 donation will get you this 52-page zine and help aid the recovery of many along our coast who are, still, without power and many now, without homes.
Please come by New York Adorned, Tuesday through Thursday, PayPal payments can be sent to sandyreliefzine@gmail.com (there is a donation button on the left of this blog). Please include your shipping address, and $1 donations for shipping are much appreciated.
Limited quantities also available at Mast Books.
All proceeds go to hurricane relief. If you would prefer to have your donation go to Occupy Sandy instead of the Red Cross please specify upon donating.

Hi Everyone,
As it has been literally a disaster area in our neighborhood and surrounding areas we have decided to take it down a notch, slow things down, clean ourselves up, and keep Mark Delong in the gallery for just a bit longer. Slated to close on November 11, we have extended the show until December 1.
Gallery hours will be Fridays 5-8, Saturdays and Sundays 12-5, and also as always, by appointment.
We are really excited about the work in this show and happy to offer it a little more time in the limelight! More pics HERE
