Ed. Varie is pleased to present an exploration of drawing with a group exhibition including works by three New York based artists; Nic Jamieson, David X. Levine and Andre Razo.
"Jamieson employs a strict and repetitive process with results that inherently challenge the viewer’s perception of a handmade creation. Precise line work, comprised primarily of chalk, is intentionally contained within a set proportion across all works. The addition of graphite and charcoal along with transfer techniques define various compositions." Circa Modern
"Levine presents… zones of pure color, and collages framed within monochromatic planes. In these, the artist lavishes the same attention on the language of abstraction as he does on his heroes, suggesting that they are sites for both the creation of desire and the constitution of the self." Artforum
"Andre Razo is a multi-disciplinary creator moving freely between art and commerce. His artworks have been widely exhibited in solo and group shows including Guild and Greyshkul, and Alleged Gallery. Razo has been featured in Tokion and Arkitip magazines, “Young Sleek and Full of Hell” by Aaron Rose, and in Cheryl Dunn’s documentary film ‘Sped’." Paddle 8
This exhibition will be on view at the Ed. Varie pop-up at the South Street Seaport from June 20, through June 30, 2014.
