Ed. Varie is pleased to present the premier of FOUNDATIONS Magazine on Thursday July 10th, 6-9pm.
"The Open Issue" will be the first printed edition of FOUNDATIONS Magazine. Created by young innovators, FOUNDATIONS Magazine will be printed on a Bi-Annual calendar focusing on emerging to mid-career art, film and writing from around the world. The Open Issue will include contributions in Art by Erika Braukis, Zachary Chistensen, Andrew Hutton, Marianne Vlaschits, Sebastian Gladstone, Kyle Roberts, Roxana Eslamieh, Theo Slavin; in Writing: Lila Gray, Nicholas Christensen, Sam Coggeshall, Josh Shaffer; and with Interviews of, Ray Potes, Lizzie Wright, and Josh Rofe.
In celebration of it’s inaugural issue in print, Los Angeles based artist Kyle Roberts will perform 20x20, composed of 20 short performances pieces in approximately 20 minutes, the order of which is chosen by the audience. 20x20 can be seen as a series of pantomimes reflecting the absurd and predicable nature of modern life. As a work of art it aims to expose these denials of reality and create an interactive experience that is genuine, which leaves viewers with a lasting impression of the underlying motivations of the human condition. “Its loud, its chaotic, its sweaty and honestly its really fun…” Kyle Roberts, as interviewed by Creative Culture Worldwide.
Thursday July 10th will also mark Ed. Varie’s 4 1/2 year anniversary as an interdisciplinary gallery promoting up and coming, emerging, and undiscovered artists worldwide. Inspired by the fundamentals of open programming, Ed. Varie exhibits artists of all media, and encourages the exploration of new concepts in the artistic practice. With a mission to unite artists in various stages of their careers to a community in Manhattan and beyond, Ed. Varie represents and mentors a wide range of artists both nationally and internationally.
Our 4 1/2 year Anniversary Bash, FOUNDATIONS Magazine launch and 20x20 Performance will take place in the backyard of Ed. Varie for ONE NIGHT ONLY, Thursday July 10, 2014.

Ed. Varie is pleased to present an exploration of drawing with a group exhibition including works by three New York based artists; Nic Jamieson, David X. Levine and Andre Razo.
"Jamieson employs a strict and repetitive process with results that inherently challenge the viewer’s perception of a handmade creation. Precise line work, comprised primarily of chalk, is intentionally contained within a set proportion across all works. The addition of graphite and charcoal along with transfer techniques define various compositions." Circa Modern
"Levine presents… zones of pure color, and collages framed within monochromatic planes. In these, the artist lavishes the same attention on the language of abstraction as he does on his heroes, suggesting that they are sites for both the creation of desire and the constitution of the self." Artforum
"Andre Razo is a multi-disciplinary creator moving freely between art and commerce. His artworks have been widely exhibited in solo and group shows including Guild and Greyshkul, and Alleged Gallery. Razo has been featured in Tokion and Arkitip magazines, “Young Sleek and Full of Hell” by Aaron Rose, and in Cheryl Dunn’s documentary film ‘Sped’." Paddle 8
This exhibition will be on view at the Ed. Varie pop-up at the South Street Seaport from June 20, through June 30, 2014.
