Pictures, by Jody Rogac

Pictures is a highly edited body of work that spans the past 3 years—from when Rogac moved to New York up to present day—and includes current projects such as a forthcoming collaborative publication with installation artist Sara Cwynar. Rogac shoots with little to no distinction between personal and commercial work. She has dedicated herself to her role as photographer and artist, maintaining her intuitive nature and finding inspiration in her subjects and the people and places around her. Through her use of light, space, and deliberate and delicate depth of field, Rogac takes the viewer on a journey of organic reactions to her models and landscapes.
Rogac’s work has been published widely and exhibited in both Canada and the United States. Pictures will be her first solo show and gallery debut at Ed. Varie. Born in England and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Jody Rogac holds a BFA from Emily Carr University. Rogac currently lives and works in New York.
Pictures opens Thursday April 11th, 6-9 pm, and will be on view from April 11 - May 5, 2013. Ed. Varie is located in Manhattan at 618 E. 9th Street, between Avenues B and C.
